Lift Off: The Harley Art Framework
Harley Gallery online resources

Based on the Welbeck Estate in North Notts, the Harley Gallery normally runs a fantastic programme of exhibitions, events, workshops and activities.

Their website currently hosts a brilliant range of creative activities for all ages, many of which are accompanied by helpful worksheets. Ideas include ‘Make a Lego self portrait’, exploring Warli painting, and ‘Make your own feather wreath’. Share your creations with the Harley Gallery by posting a picture to social media using #Harleyathome.

Harley Gallery has also just published a new resource for teaching art for 3 to 11 year olds.

The Harley Art Framework provides developmental guidelines and art lesson ideas for children ages 3 to 11.

The aims of the Framework are:

  • To provide the opportunity to experience the enjoyment of making and understanding of art in its many different forms.
  • To develop children’s imagination, skills, knowledge and understanding through the experience of making art for its own sake and as a support for other curriculum areas.
  • To help children develop their personal values and opinions and to highlight the diversity and richness of human cultures.
