MishMash aims to make music more accessible by using the magic of theatre to create bold, imaginative productions for children and families.
The website has up-to-date information about the all of the company’s current projects and productions and also has a series of 11 interactive video podcasts that were created during the pandemic. These short films were designed to encourage young minds to explore the music, stories and theatre from some of the company’s shows and are all still available.
They include performances and participatory activities for children aged 3 to 7 and their families and classes and are based on themes featured in one or more of the company’s shows. Artforms & activities include shadow puppetry, singing, body percussion, wordplay, drawing, origami, imaginative play, listening, movement, composition and improvisation and there are also featured interviews with composer Bill Carslake and authors/illustrators Catherine Rayner and Alexis Deacon.
Worksheets designed for schools and early years settings are also available to be downloaded from the Mish Mash website and include further links and extension activities.
